About this experience
Experience an adventure like never before. You will be staying at the #1 Speciality Lodge in Satpura National Park. The entire trip will focus on exploring the wild on foot and paying attention to the entire eco system instead of focus on one species. I will try to create a lifelong memory and expose you to all the denizens of the jungle.
To get the best of your trip, it’s preferable if you arrive at Forsyth Lodge before 4pm. After hi-tea and orientation, we set out for an evening walk in the vicinity and return to the lodge for dinner.
Early next morning, we head out and explore the forest on a boat safari on the backwaters of the Denwa River that borders the Satpura National Park on the southern side. This experience will allow us to see the forest with a new perspective while giving us the opportunity to look out for some water creatures like crocodiles, fish and water birds. Early winter migrating birds also would have arrived by then. Post our morning escapade, gear up for a safari and a ride to Churna Forest House. Our safari will take you through different areas of the park, rarely explored by the regular travellers. We might get to see the variety of habitats that we will drive through. For example- different types of deer, gaur, sloth bear, leopard, tiger and a variety of birds and other smaller creatures. Once we reach Churna Forest House, settle down for lunch and a short rest. The Churna Forest Rest House is an old British style cottage. It is a simple, charming building surrounded by the forest. The Churna area is especially good to look for the Giant Squirrels. Spend a restful evening followed by dinner at the rest house.
Early this morning, we will set out once again exploring the forests from Churna as we head to Madhai. we will reach Forsyth Lodge in time for a late lunch. After lunch and a little rest, set out for a dusk safari in the buffer forest. Early mornings and late evenings are the best time to look out for wildlife. No other national park in India allows you to explore the forest at this time of the day. This is a great opportunity to look for owls, wild cats, bears, civets, etc. If we are lucky, we may see the world’s smallest wild cat- the Rusty-spotted Cat. Return to the lodge for your farewell dinner and a restful night.
This is your last day and I'll take you for a beautiful Chitki Dev Safari ride- yes leaving a great safari ride for the last day.Come back from the Safari and enjoy your last breakfast for this trip. Depart from the lodge and head back from a calming, forest experience.
How to reach
Forsyth Lodge is easily accessible via Bhopal (135 kms), which is also the nearest airport and a major train station.
About your host :
I have been trekking the Western Ghat ranges since 1999, and my passion for the Western Ghats and discovering the richness of its biodiversity and guiding treks has given me a nickname ‘malabaricus’ – "belonging to the Western Ghats". My experience in theater and love for story telling made me pursue guiding as a fulfilling journey in the wilderness. With extensive experience as a naturalist along with exposure to managing various lodges in National Parks across the country, I will strive to bring to the best safari and staying experience. I look forward to take you on a journey across Satpura - an experience that will be truly adventurous and enriching.
